About This Event:
This course is customized for private sector personnel and covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA general industry standards with special emphasis on areas that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide.
OSHA’s 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Standards will be provided.

Environmental, safety and health managers and employees, plant and facility engineers, maintenance staff, individuals new to the field, experienced environmental safety and health managers looking to expand their knowledge. Engineers, maintenance staff, facility managers, and others with environmental and safety responsibilities will gain valuable knowledge.

This course is eligible for MESH credit. The MESH Certificate will demonstrate that you have been exposed to and have gained a grasp of essential skills and knowledge. While not a degree or a specific certification of your qualifications, earning the certificate represents solid evidence of successful completion of the requirements and illustrates dedication to becoming more knowledgeable in your field and valuable to your organization.
Instructor(s):
Wendy Laing, CSP, NCSU Industrial Extension Service and director of the Southeastern OTI Education Center, has over 20 years of engineering and safety experience. Ms. Laing has served as a facility safety manager for two manufacturing locations in North Carolina. She has developed, coordinated, and promoted safety and environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. In addition, Ms. Laing has provided numerous training courses to promote and educate employees and management about safety.
Holli Singleton, CHSP, NCSU Industrial Extension Service and EHS Specialist, has more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry managing safety and health programs. She conducts work site assessments for North Carolina employers, and consults and trains them in EHS regulatory compliance. She develops and presents continuing education courses on OSHA Compliance and Record Keeping, Hazardous Materials, Incident Command, and other safety and environmental health topics.
Michael “Mac” McNulty, NCSU Industrial Extension Service, has more than 20 years experience in the areas of chemistry, safety and health, and remediation/emergency response, and is the lead instructor for HAZWOPER at IES. Mr. McNulty has administrated OSHA and EPA compliance audits for various facilities; conducted industrial hygiene sampling and job safety assessments; developed, implemented, evaluated, and conducted instruction in safety & health programs; and the handling of solid and hazardous wastes.
