Comprehensive Energy Management System Solutions

In February 2008, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) approved the establishment of a new project committee (PC 242 - Energy Management) appointed to develop ISO 50001, the new ISO Management System Standard for Energy, expected to be released in 2010.

NC State University IES is participating on this committee. Updates on the committee's progress will be posted frequently.

ISO 50001 is based on the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) continuous improvement approach and emphasizes training, development of standard operating procedures, energy monitoring and team-based problem solving. Using this approach, businesses can successfully establish and organizational structure that supports the following objectives:

  • Long-term energy improvement
  • Overcome obstacles to successful energy management planning
  • Move to a unified approach in energy management
  • Create and empower an effective energy management team
  • Prioritize and coordinate multiple energy management projects
  • Sustain energy management by monitoring cost, performance and environmental factors

Companies will soon have the opportunity to become certified to an overall system of energy requirements including:

  • ISO 50001 Energy Management System
  • ASME System Assessment Standards
    • Steam
    • Process Heating
    • Pumping
    • Compressed Air Systems
  • Measurement and Verification Protocol
  • ANSI/MSE 2000 - A Management System for Energy

IES will help you achieve the performance levels necessary for these certifications giving you the recognition and technology necessary for success in your business operations.

Check back here or call us for more details as they develop.
