Lean Six Sigma Green Belt with Minitab

About This Event:

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt training will introduce you to the Lean Six Sigma philosophy and terminology and give you the tools you need to complete your Green Belt certification project. This course uses a combination of lectures, presentations and hands-on lab exercises to provide you with a strong foundation in Lean Six Sigma. You will gain the skills needed to lead Lean Six Sigma process improvement projects, work on teams led by Lean Six Sigma Black Belts and help your organization implement Lean Six Sigma effectively.

This two-week course comprises the entire Green Belt training program, and serves as the first two weeks of Black Belt training. This format allows Green Belts and Black Belts to train together, creating atmosphere similar to the work environment, where Green and Black Belts work together on Lean Six Sigma project teams.

This course is taught in 2 one-week sessions.

This course uses JMP software for statistical analysis of data. A copy of JMP software is provided for our course participants.

Participants must bring a PC laptop to class each day.

Trainees are encouraged to have a Lean Six Sigma project in mind prior to attending class.

A certificate will be awarded to each person who completes the training and passes the test given on the last day of the course. Certification requires the completion of a project which takes place in your company. IES will travel to your plant to validate your work.

Instructor(s):

Kevin Grayson is a senior quality trainer at the North Carolina State University Industrial Extension Service. Mr. Grayson has 15 years of experience at Fortune 100 companies in industrial management and engineering. He has held various positions including environmental coordinator and quality manager. His responsibilities have included implementing Total Productive Maintenance and directing all aspects of the ISO 9001 Program.

Mr. Grayson was appointed as Charlotte section chair for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) for the year 2000-2001 and is certified with ASQ as both a Certified Quality Engineer, a Certified Quality Auditor, and a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt. He is also a certified Plexus trainer of QS 9000, ISO 9000 and TS 16949. Mr. Grayson has served six terms as a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Examiner and as president of both the Charlotte and Atlanta chapters of the American Institute of Plant Engineers (now AFE).

Mr. Grayson has bachelor's degrees in both electrical engineering and economics (1983) from NC State University, a master's of business administration (1986) from Brenau University, and a master's in electrical engineering (1993) from UNC-Charlotte.

Christy Guion is a six sigma delivery specialist and the IES six sigma product line leader. Christy has helped several organizations establish six sigma deployment plans that encompass DMAIC methodology training, project selection and prioritization and resource allocation. Christy also provides six sigma training and coaching for champions, red belts (aka yellow belts), green belts, and black belts. Christy also customizes courses to meet specific quality improvement needs.

Christy has more than 17 years of progressive experience in manufacturing management. Most recently, Christy worked as an operational excellence leader instrumental with the implementation of continuous improvement activities including coaching and mentoring six sigma green belts, six sigma black belts and lean leaders. Christy has held various management and quality related positions in several industries including pharmaceuticals, medical devices and disposable products, textiles and cosmetics.

Christy has a B.S. in industrial technology from East Carolina University with a concentration in electronics and a minor in business administration. Christy also has her M.S. in industrial technology from East Carolina University with a concentration in manufacturing technologies. Christy is pursuing her doctorate degree at Capella University and is an adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix. Christy is a member of ASQ (American Society for Quality). Christy is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt and is Master Black Belt trained. Christy is also certified as a Lean Manufacturing Specialist from the University of Kentucky.
