Emissions Workshop
0.5 day(s)
, 3 instructional hours
About This Event:
-
The measurement of O2/CO is critical to the efficient operation of boilers. This program discusses pros and cons of the various monitoring and control systems available today, offers suggestions for implementing a reasonable, cost-effective system in an industrial plant and evaluates potential savings. The course also covers air quality issues related to formation of N0x, CO, and SO2. Particular emphasis is given to developing a cost-effective philosophy for dealing with Title V permitting issues.
Recommended For:
-
Plant personnel concerned with air quality compliance issues.
You Will:
-
Gain a working knowledge of the relationship between O2, CO, excess air, and stack loss efficiency; the types of measurement systems available; the cost of these systems; N0x reduction technologies; and cost-effective air permitting strategies.
Be able to make intelligent, informed decisions regarding air permitting.
Topics Covered Include:
-
Significance of 02/CO measurement
Evaluation of monitoring systems
N0x reduction technologies
Criteria pollutants
Pollutant measurement and control
Permits: Title V vs. Significant Minor
Cost of compliance.
Instructor(s):
-
Dr. Herbert M. Eckerlin, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, will present the course. Dr. Eckerlin has analyzed boiler efficiencies/emissions on hundreds of operating boiler systems as part of a nationwide boiler test program. These tests include oil, gas, coal and wood-fired boilers. He has lectured on this subject to a wide array of audiences and is a nationally recognized course leader for industry and commerce.
