About This Event:

This one-day workshop provides you with a full understanding of the ISO 14001 standard and principles of Environmental Management Systems (EMS). An excellent lead-in to IES' ISO 14001-Internal Auditing, this workshop presents detailed information on elements of the standard, how to implement an EMS, the road to registration, common non-conformances and other topics. The full-day format of this workshop allows the instructor to present more detail than in the 1/2-day Executive Overview.
Introduction to ISO 14001 will be conducted using interactive exercises (learn-by-doing technique) to facilitate a full understanding of the material.

Charlie Parrish, P.E., is an Environmental Engineering Specialist with the Industrial Extension Service (IES) at North Carolina State University. Mr. Parrish works with the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) group conducting assistance programs on ISO 14001. He has completed ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 Lead Auditor training and Plexus Trainer Coach certification. In addition to leading the ISO 14001 overview workshop, Mr. Parrish has assisted over 20 companies with developing an EMS and acquiring ISO 14001 registration.
Mr. Parrish also teaches Environmental Engineering PE Review, Air Quality, Stack Testing, Environmental Permits, Intro to Environmental Regulations, and other workshops. He has conducted on-site projects for NC manufacturers on waste minimization assessments, air quality permitting, storm water permitting, aquatic toxicity investigations, RMP/PSM applicability, Safety Training, TSCA Compliance, and others.
Mr. Parrish holds a master's degree in environmental engineering (1989) from Virginia Tech University, and a bachelor's degree in biology (1978) from San Diego State University.
