DOE Level 1 Fundamentals of Compressed Air Systems
1 day(s)
, 7 instructional hours
About This Event:
-
This workshop provides a discussion of energy efficiency factors for compressed air systems, with an emphasis on considering the system instead of only components. Indicators and symptoms of potential energy reduction opportunities are presented.
Recommended For:
-
Plant maintenance personnel and operators, plant engineers and consulting engineers.
You Will:
-
Explain the benefits of improving compressed air system performance
Define key terms
Explain how the compressed air system works
Compute the current cost of compressed air for their plant
Measure and create a baseline
Describe the basic approach for cutting costs
Determine the impact of different compressor control types
Identify steps for proper system operation, maintenance, and point of use accountability
Tailor a compressed air system management action plan.
Topics Covered Include:
-
How to achieve cost savings of 15-25% through more effective production and use of compressed air
Benefits of improving compressed air system performance.
Additional Information:
-
The Compressed Air Challenge has developed a training workshop to help evaluate industrial compressed air systems and apply proven techniques to reduce operating costs and improve productivity, product quality, system reliability and competitiveness. The Department of Energy has adopted this training for its workshop directed at improving industrial compressed air systems. The CAC training sessions are only taught by qualified instructors who have been screened and qualified by the Compressed Air Challenge.
Instructor(s):
-
William (Bill) Scales, P.E., president of Scales Air Compressor Corp, has worked with air compressors for more than 49 years as a mechanic, engineer and consultant and has practical knowledge and expertise in the air compressor industry. Mr. Scales has lectured before major companies and the World Energy Congress for many years and is a United States representative to the International Standards Organization with responsibility for specifying lubricants for use in air compressors.
