About This Event:
In this hands-on workshop, you will be introduced to the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence and will use selected criteria to assess your own organization. Tools and techniques will be introduced to help simplify the criteria and its use for continuous improvement of your organization's performance.

You Will:
Learn how the four-level Baldrige-based North Carolina Awards for Excellence assessment and awards program can be used to institute change and guide organizations through continuous performance improvement Learn how to interpret the requirements of selected Baldrige criteria items, how to use these requirements for organizational performance assessment, and how to use the assessment results to improve performance Use flow diagrams to simplify the Baldrige criteria for use as requirements in developing a high performing organization Learn how the criteria core values form the foundation of the criteria and their importance in changing the culture within an organization to enhance continuous improvement Complete a self-assessment for your organization that identifies improvement opportunities Experience Baldrige through hands-on exercises.

Instructor(s):
Wayne Tindle is the Program Director for the North Carolina Awards for Excellence. He has been active in the North Carolina Quality Award process since it began in 1991 as an examiner (5 years), senior examiner (2 years) and judge (3 years).
Mr. Tindle has over 14 years of experience in the implementation of Total Quality principles. Before coming to NCSU he worked for Alcatel USA in team development training, and facilitation; implementing Total Quality/Malcolm Baldrige concepts through training, coaching and internal consulting; and ISO9000/TL9000 auditing.
Mr. Tindle has a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Tennessee Technological University and a master's in management from NC State University.
