About This Event:

This 2-day course will cover the basic requirements for shipping hazardous materials using 49 CFR (DOT) regulations. This certification workshop discusses the fundamentals of shipping hazardous materials and hazardous wastes, quantity exemptions and exceptions, and recent changes in the regulations. You will learn how to apply the rules to your materials.
The course consists of engaging lecture, table-top exercises, and a series of review questions following each major topic. There is an exam administered at the end of the workshop. Certificates of participation will be awarded.

Anyone who meets the definition of a "Hazmat Employee" or oversees the activities of Hazmat Employees is urged to attend. This includes, but is not limited to, those who prepare and offer materials for transport, prepare and/or sign shipping papers (includes EPA's Universal Hazardous Waste Manifest), load, unload or otherwise handles hazardous materials shipments, and those responsible for the safety and security of hazardous materials shipments.
NOTE: Hazmat training is required within 90 days for new employees.
You Will:

Recognize and identify hazardous materials;
Understand details related to shipping, receiving and handling hazardous materials;
Demonstrate methods and procedures to avoid accidents, protect employees, and respond to emergencies;
Receive a copy of 49 CFR, Parts 100-185.
