Tour a western North Carolina leader in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction. Snap-on is a leading global innovator, manufacturer, and marketer of hand tools, power tools, diagnostics and equipment. Founded in 1920, Snap-on is a $2.5 billion, S&P 500 company headquartered in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

The Snap-on facility in Murphy produces a mix of Snap-on, Sioux, and private brand power tools for professional users. The facility began its lean manufacturing implementation shortly after relocating from Sioux City, Iowa to Murphy in 2002. Since that time, the commitment to rapid continuous improvement and lean principles has driven significant improvement in sales, profits, and other metrics.

Directions
From Asheville take I-40 W to exit 27 for US-23/US-74/US-19 toward “Waynesville/ Clyde/ Atlanta/ Maggie Valley/ Franklin/ Murphy”

Stay on this road (Highways US-19/ US-74) for about and hour and a half. It will take you through the Nantahala Gorge and Andrews. About 10 miles outside of Andrews you will see the 24 mile marker. After this maker look for Snap-on Dr. and take a left. The plant is at the end of Snap-on Dr. If you reach the stoplight that turns into Walmart you have gone too far.
