Transitioning to Lean Using the Shingo Model and Guidelines

1 day(s) , 7 instructional hours

About This Event:

Does your lean need reviving? Is your lean limping along, missing its potential for greater efficiency and profitability?

Lean works, as manufacturers have proven for decades. In fact, health care and finance are just two industries to jump on the lean bandwagon in recent years. Nothing works better than lean principles and lean tools, but over time, bad habits can creep back.

On day one, you can get your lean mojo back. And you can take that inspiration right back to the work place to instill a lean culture that will stand the test of time. On day two, tour the Shingo Prize Silver Award Winner, Volvo Construction Equipment Asheville plant.

This two-day workshop will immerse you in the basic principles of the Shingo model, based on the work of Dr. Shigeo Shingo, the man who revolutionized automobile manufacturing and refined what became known as the Toyota Production System (TPS).

TPS is the benchmark for developing world-class manufacturing processes and highly efficient operations. This workshop will give you the foundation necessary to lead a group, plant, hospital, or military unit down the structured path to world-class performance -- and that may lead you to the revered "Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence."

Recommended For:

Anyone who has started a lean program and wants to take it up a notch. Or anyone who has a lean program that barely functions. Leaders starting a lean transformation, from upper-level managers to production engineers to plant managers, will benefit from learning how the Shingo approach can increase efficiency, increase effectiveness, and improve productivity. The practical approach will also benefit employees on the front lines of continuous improvement, such as front-line supervisors, lean facilitators, and quality managers.
