About This Event:

This course addresses industrial hygiene practices and related OSHA regulations and procedures. Topics include permissible exposure limits, OSHA health standards, respiratory protection, engineering controls, hazard communication, OSHA sampling procedures and strategy, workplace health program elements and other industrial hygiene topics. The course features workshops in health hazard recognition, OSHA health standards and a safety and health program workshop.

This course is recommended for staff designated with the responsibility of managing safety and health in the workplace, safety commitee members, other personnel responsible for safety.

You Will:

Define terms relating to OSHA health requirements
Recognize potential health hazards in the workplace
Perform basic health hazard evaluations using OSHA sampling procedures
Recommend suitable strategies for controlling hazardous conditions
Describe the elements required for an effective workplace health program

Compliance with air contaminant standards, hazard communication, hazardous waste standards, the asbestos standard, the bloodborne pathogens standard, the noise standard, the respiratory protection standard, and ventilation standards
Air contaminant sampling, including detector tube sampling
Air sampling laboratory
Elements of a workplace health program
Health hazard recognition
OSHA ergonomic guidelines
