E 3

E3: Compete, Collaborate, Improve and Succeed

Manufacturing is a barometer of the overall health of the economy, not only nationally, but internationally. Global competition and the rising costs of doing business--including energy costs--require manufacturers to utilize innovative resources in order to remain profitable, competitive and sustainable.

E3: Economy, Energy and Environment is a collaboration of resources including local, state and federal partners that work for the benefit of manufacturers in each of the state's 7 economic development regions.

E3 addresses sustainability and profitability initiatives by leveraging experts in:

  • Process improvements
  • Energy use
  • Carbon footprint analysis
  • Worker safety
  • Business excellence practices

E3 was developed in 2008 by the US Environmental Protection Agency, the US Department of Energy, and the US Department of Commerce as a means of providing access to resources in a comprehensive manner. Additional federal partners include the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of Labor. True success depends upon partners at all levels including community and economic development leaders.
