The Manufacturing Makes it Real Network (MMIRN) is a membership organization that offers North Carolina's manufacturers opportunities to:
- Share operational best practices
- Connect with peers
- Localize supply chains
- Promote a growing North Carolina manufacturing industry
Network members hold a series of networking and benchmarking events at many world-class North Carolina manufacturing facilities such as Glen Raven Technical Fabrics in Burlington, Keihin Carolina System Technology in Tarboro and Siemens in Charlotte. The next Network event will be held in partnership with the NCEast Alliance on Tuesday, December 2 (9:00-2:45PM) in Cherry Point at Miller's Landing and Fleet Readiness Center. Registration is open now and filling up quickly! All attendees must register by November 5.
The Employers and Educators Summit will explore, from the employer’s lenses, how sustainable STEM skilled employees can be developed through collaborative efforts with educators. Panels consisting of employers, K-12 educators and higher education representatives will speak about purposefully aligned programs that are producing employees “just in time” to fill vacant positions. Attendees will also hear from state and national STEM leaders who will explain North Carolina efforts to align K-12 education with employer skill needs that lead to blended programs with higher education and employers. The lunch keynote speaker will discuss the vision of a Key North Carolina foundation as it relates to STEM talent/skill development in rural counties.
The Summit will end with a unique tour of Fleet Readiness Center East. FRC East provides world-class maintenance, engineering and logistics support for Navy and Marine Corps aviation, as well as other armed services, federal agencies and foreign government.
