On a mission to plan a family weekend adventure, I recently googled “things to do” and “events calendar” for a multitude of nearby towns and boroughs. Imagine my surprise when I came across an opportunity for an afternoon excursion to Chapel Hill where the whole family could participate in Goat Yoga. Yes, you read that correctly. Goat. Yoga. According to the website’s description, the whole family could come enjoy yoga, meditation and relaxation with goats.

While I don’t fancy myself a goat expert, I was raised on a farm. We had cows, pigs, chickens and one goat. Never once did I witness Bobby Joe doing Sun Salutations, but there was the day I barely got out of the way before he hauled off and rammed the grill of daddy’s 1967 Ford F100. Suffice it to say, time spent in proximity to Bobby Joe was far from relaxing. Maybe other goats are polite, well-mannered, flexible and centered. Bobby Joe was none of that. However, when he stood on top of the hen house, he did look a little like he was in Mountain Pose.

Speaking of “kids” and standing on top of things, make plans to participate in one of our free Fall Prevention for Youth Workers Awareness Seminars:
