About this Course:
This Course is based on Ready Business, a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) program developed in conjunction with several business organizations to provide training, ideas, and templates to help organizations develop a personalized business continuity plan. Ready Business is part of FEMA’s Ready campaign that encourages individuals, businesses and organizations to prepare for emergencies. This training program was developed by the Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN), which is a network of state Extension Services that work together to share research-based resources that help citizens and organizations reduce the impact of disasters.
This EDEN business preparedness course was produced with the cooperation of the Department of Homeland Security and the Ready Marks are used with the permission of the Department of Homeland Security. It has been further supplemented with the instructor’s own personal first responder experiences with actual natural disasters including floods, wildfires and hurricanes. Owners and managers of small and medium-sized businesses, personnel in non-profit organizations, personnel in governmental organizations, and utilities personnel in telecommunications, gas, electric, and water services, among others, will find this Course to be useful for their organization’s sustainability and disaster preparedness planning.
