For our 60th birthday we got a new look – and we’re throwing a party

It’s going to take us a while to light the candles on our birthday cake this year– we’re turning 60! And the fact of the matter is, we’re really proud of our age. IES is getting better day by day, year by year. As this milestone approached, though, it encouraged all of us to look back on our history, take stock of where we are now and plan for how to move forward in the future with our mission of bringing greater prosperity to business and industry in North Carolina.

Ever since IES was born back in 1955, we’ve grown tremendously. We now have six regional offices throughout the state to better serve our clients, and we’ve expanded beyond working solely with manufacturers to include clients in healthcare, governments, nonprofits and institutions of learning, in addition to private businesses.

That’s a lot of change. In looking at all we do, we realized that the name we had proudly carried for the first 60 years of our life—“Industrial Extension Service”—was one we had outgrown.  So after extensive research and gathering impressions from clients and university stakeholders, and having many, many meetings and discussions about who we truly are and what we offer, we decided on a name that we think speaks to our next 60 years: Industry Expansion Solutions.

We think it speaks to our vast capabilities and the limitless potential of our clients. We love our new name, and we hope you will, too.

Our website has been redesigned to reflect this new identity and to provide a more streamlined user experience so you can find out more about the industries we serve, the solutions we offer and the positive impact we continue to have on North Carolina’s economy. Have a look and let us know what you think!

To mark the occasion, on August 24, from 4-6 pm, we’re inviting our clients, friends and the rest of North Carolina to celebrations at our Raleigh office on the NC State University Centennial Campus, as well as at our Wrightsville Beach, Greensboro and Kannapolis offices.

Thanks from all of us, and we’re excited to show you where we’re going next.
