The upcoming issue of Business North Carolina will highlight the future of STEM education

RALEIGH – Dr. Terri Helmlinger Ratcliff, NC State University Vice Provost for Outreach & Engagement and Executive Director of the Industrial Extension Service (IES), will appear in the June issue of Business North Carolina. The magazine will highlight a round table discussion that it hosted in Morrisville in April, about the future of STEM education in North Carolina. Ratcliff, along with numerous other business and civic leaders from around the state, joined in the conversation to discuss STEM partnerships among private businesses and educational institutions.

The discussion included thoughts on:

  • Why STEM education is important to NC businesses
  • Increasing diversity in STEM fields
  • What businesses should expect from school systems in developing the state’s workforce for the 21st century, and how they can help
  • How STEM education is currently being promoted, and how businesses are helping

Business North Carolina features a special round table section on its website. Look for coverage of the STEM discussion in June.
