The Speciality Fabrics Review, an Advanced Textiles Association (ATA) publication, recently interviewed Michael Mullins, the director of Defense Industry Initiatives, NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions, about the North Carolina Defense Manufacturing Community Support Program. “The purpose of the DMSCP is to make long-term investments in critical skills, facilities, workforce development, research and development and small-business support to strengthen the national security innovation base,” Mullins explained. NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions administers this program for North Carolina. Since 2021, NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions (IES) has provided guidance and resources to ambitious innovators looking to create a market for their advanced textiles and smart wearables in the defense industry. 

Onda Vision Technologies Inc. (OVT) in Raleigh, N.C. and Prohuman Technologies in Concord, N.C. were two of the first organizations to participate in the first North Carolina Defense Manufacturing Community Support Program cohort completing the Propeller Accelerator program at First Flight Venture Center/Hangar6.
