August 15-21 is Safe and Sound Week – a nationwide effort to recognize and celebrate the success of workplace safety and health programs. Which of the following aligns with OSHA’s recommended practices for an effective safety and health program?

  1. Identify workers who have experienced work-related injuries or illnesses and use them as examples of what not to do.
  2. Provide financial or other meaningful incentives to employees for having no recordable injuries.
  3. Involve workers in finding solutions to safety concerns.

Safe and Sound Week – August 15-21, 2022

Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide event held each August that recognizes the successes of workplace health and safety programs and offers information and ideas on how to keep America’s workers safe. Check out resources that are available and how your organization can participate by visiting OSHA’s Safe and Sound webpage.

 

Lightning Safety 

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), annually in the United States, cloud-to-ground lightning occurs 20 to 25 million times and over 300 people are struck by lightning. OSHA maintains an up-to-date lightning safety facts sheet with helpful information and resources to keep workers safe.

 

Automation and Robotics Safety 

Studies indicate that many robot accidents occur during non-routine operating conditions, such as programming, maintenance, testing, setup, or adjustment. OSHA maintains an automation and robotics safety webpage to help workers manage automation and robotics safely. 

 

ECU Infectious Disease Training

ECU Department of Construction Management has received a Susan Harwood Grant for Infectious Disease Training. The material is free personalized training and, depending on the trainee’s knowledge, varies from 30 minutes to 3.5 hours. Access the training material.
