Safety Guardian Trivia

A participant in an OSHA 10-hour course misses 1 hour of the class.  Which of the following statements is accurate:

  1. As long as no more than 1 hour is missed, there is no issue and the trainer can submit the student’s name on the course completion documentation.
  2. While the trainer can go ahead and give them the course completion card, written materials covering the missed content must be provided and the trainer must submit a signed “Supplemental Materials for Makeup Training” form with the card order.
  3. Once the student completes the missed portion of the class, the trainer can submit the appropriate documentation for requesting the completion card.
  4. OSHA offers no provisions for participants who miss a portion of a class.  They will have to retake the class in its entirety.

Answer

C. If a student misses any portion of the class, makeup training may be offered and, once completed, the trainer must submit a request for that student’s card. For more information on Makeup Training refer to OSHA’s Outreach Training Program Requirements.
