Companies that aspire to be better environmental stewards typically invest in strong environmental, health and safety management, otherwise known as EHS. It involves creating a systematic approach to managing waste, complying with environmental regulations or reducing an organization’s carbon footprint. Successful EHS programs also include processes to address air quality and other aspects of workplace safety that could affect the health and well-being of employees.

EHS Program Assistance

NC State Industry Expansion Solutions can help you create—or simply refresh—your organization’s EHS program. We provide coaching, internal auditing, internal auditor training and plant-wide awareness training for ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, compliance evaluation, sustainability reporting and more.

Could your EHS program use some attention? Our EHS Check-up can help your business specifically address the following:

  • ISO 14001 (Environmental)
The 14001 standard was re-published in 2015 and companies must transition to the new version (by 2017 or 2018, depending on the Registrar). IES can perform internal audits or GAP Analyses to determine what action items are needed to meet the new standard.
  • ISO 45001 (replaces OHSAS 18001)
With the 45001 standard expected to be published in the first half of 2018, IES is proud to be one of the first organizations to offer a 45001 public auditor training class, beginning in June 2018. However, you may want to get a jump on things now by conducting an on-site GAP Analysis or other related services. ISO 50001 (Energy) Evaluation of Compliance with Environmental Health Safety Regulations
  • ISO 50001 (Energy)
IES ISO 50001 services can be conducted either in the form of a class or as an on-site assistance/coaching program. Let us help your organization, whether large or small, across diverse commercial, industrial or public sectors, learn how you can achieve energy efficiencies while reducing environmental impact.
  • Evaluation of Compliance with Environmental Health Safety Regulations
Compliance evaluations are required by element 9.1.2 of ISO 14001 and 45001. Determine your organization’s regulatory compliance with EHS rules governing wastewater, air quality, hazardous waste, Health and Safety and others.
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste for Generators Training
RCRA Hazardous Waste for Generators Training can be performed onsite or in the classroom. Walk-through assessments of waste storage areas are also available upon request.
  • DOT HazMat Transportation Training
If your company offers any DOT Hazardous Materials for transport (Haz Waste, Raw Materials, others), then you need DOT HazMat training every three years. Training is required for IATA rules for Air Shipments and IMDG rules for shipment by vessel—every two years.
  • Sustainability Reporting
IES can assist your company in meeting sustainability reporting requirements, such as those mandated by Walmart and others. This involves tracking water use, solid waste generation and Greenhouse Gas / Carbon Footprint calculations, for example. IES can assist your organization in reporting this data to data registers such as the Carbon Disclosure Project or others.
  • Air Permits and Other Environmental Services
We can help you determine if your company requires an NC Air Permit, and if so, how to apply for one. We also help with Air Emissions Calculations & Reporting, Tier II and TRI reporting, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, Oil Spill Prevention plans (SPCC) and Chemical / Material Import certifications required by TSCA, DOT program reviews and more.
