Dr. Deborah Manzo

Bio

Dr. Manzo directs the North Carolina Performance Excellence Coaching Program. Dr. Manzo provides coaching services for leaders, managers, supervisors, and associates in business, healthcare, manufacturing, government and education sectors.  She provides direct coaching services and training in performance excellence in the areas of leadership, strategic planning, action planning, customer focus, analytics, knowledge management, workforce capability, capacity, and motivation, process improvements, and results based decision making. This includes custom designed learning activities for senior leaders, boards, directors, managers, supervisors, category leads, and the general workforce. Current references may be obtained from Duke Health System, Duke Energy, Honda, Hyster/Yale, Purdue Pharma, Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System, and Village of Pinehurst. Dr. Manzo serves on the Editorial Review Board for the American Society for Quality- Quality Management Journal. Since 1999, she also serves the United States National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) as a National Baldrige Alumni Senior Examiner. She has served as the Senior Director for Continuous Improvement and Professional Development for an organization with 14,000 employees and 125 sites. Dr. Manzo is also a Clinical Associate Professor with UNC-Chapel Hill since 1999 with extensive experience teaching masters and doctoral students in leadership, diversity, performance excellence, research and evaluation. Deb received her doctorate from Columbia University in leadership and administration; her masters, BS, BA and MS  from Oklahoma State University; and a masters from NOVA Southeastern University. She is a master trainer in Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, Quality Tools, Thinking Maps; Covey-7 Habits; Framework for Understanding Poverty; Professional Learning Communities and Facilitative Leadership. She is certified to administer a wide range of leadership and change assessments, including Myers-Briggs, Change Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, and others. She is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and ISO 9001 Auditor.
