Gene Beneduce serves as regional manager for NC State Industry Expansion Solutions (IES) for the southern Piedmont region that includes Alexander, Anson, Cabarrus, Catawba, Iredell, Montgomery, Richmond, Rowan, Scotland, Stanly and Union counties. Gene partners with local manufacturing industries, service providers and other businesses to transfer knowledge and technology in support of economic development. Gene has helped companies in his region initiate innovation engineering, lean, Six Sigma, safety, environmental and ISO 9001 programs that resulted in an economic impact of more than $12 million in 2014. Gene arranged for NC State Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt and Red Belt programs to be delivered on-site to organizations in Iredell, Union and Stanly counties. Gene has worked with a wide variety of industries, including metal working, plastics, rubber, automotive, electronics, chemical, home building materials, modular homes, beverage, healthcare and national defense. Gene also conducts comprehensive business assessments to help companies evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and compare performance to their peers and overall industry. Prior to joining NC State, Gene spent 25 years with Union Carbide, Philips Lighting, Collins & Aikman Automotive, and Radisys Electronics. His experience includes industrial engineering, quality, procurement, operations management and project management. Gene has a B.S. in industrial engineering technology from NJ Institute of Technology (1980) and an M.S. in manufacturing management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1985). Gene is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt, is trained in the Toyota Production System principles of lean manufacturing and is also trained in the principles of Innovation Engineering. Gene is an accredited business assessor utilizing Comparison International’s “Promoting Business Excellence” world class assessment.
