John Dorris is the director of resource development and evaluation at North Carolina State University Industry Expansion Solutions (IES). He provides leadership on strategy, research and data analysis efforts related to workforce development, organizational learning, STEM, and emerging trends in evaluation. He manages the development of grant concepts, oversees proposal development and designs and implements program evaluation projects. John has extensive experience providing summative and formative evaluation services for various projects of size and scope. Over the past five years, John has served as the principal investigator for several evaluation projects which have informed local, state and national policy. In his previous role as executive director of the Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition, John directed the process by which sub-recipient programs of the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Continuum of Care grant were reviewed and evaluated to determine renewal status. He has 20 years’ experience teaching statistics and quality management courses at the community college and university level. John holds a B.S. degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, two M.S.degrees (business administration and statistics) from Penn State University and an Ed.D. in learning and leadership from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
