Karen Reed is an Improvement Specialist with Industry Expansion Solutions (IES). Karen brings her expertise in the science of improvement to the design, measurement and coaching of individuals and organizations. As part of the IES Lean Six Sigma Healthcare and Government team, Karen has facilitated rapid improvement events with hospitals and local health departments focused on care improvement, value based purchasing metrics, readmission reduction and revenue capture. Reed has also worked with government organizations to reduce customer wait time, improve accuracy and decrease turnaround time in transaction processing. She is particularly interested in lean transformation work and the leadership actions that sustain a culture of continuous improvement. Karen holds a bachelors degree from California State University, Chico, and a master’s degree from Oregon State University in Child Development. She also holds a master’s degree from Dartmouth College in Clinical and Evaluative Sciences. She is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) and has completed Lean Greenbelt Certification.
