Heather Mitchell is the assistant finance and grant manager for the business operations group at NC State Industry Expansion Solutions (IES). Heather's primary responsibility is to assist in the financial monitoring and managing of all account activity within the department—financial and grant related. Heather compiles monthly financial statements for a variety of funding sources, assists in financial analysis, approves all financial transactions and monitors the work and work flow of the financial functions. She is responsible for assisting in fiscal planning, fiscal year-end closeout, as well as the review of grant proposals. Heather also works with the business operations group as the financial liaison for REPORTER Professional Learning courses, OSHA cards, MESH certificates, pre-award, post-award and closeouts for grants. She runs financial queries, approves purchase requests, reviews and approves travel and provides financial transaction approvals. She is responsible for project invoicing, collections, university late payment reporting, university aging reporting and reviews all service agreements for IES projects. Heather holds a B.A. in psychology from NC State University.
