The “Manufacturing Makes It Real” Network welcomes B/E Aerospace’s West Point Facility in Winston-Salem as its newest member.
Founded in 1987 as Bach Engineering, the company became B/E Avionics in 1989 after the acquisition of EECO Avionics. With the acquisition of two more companies in 1992, the company became B/E Aerospace. Since its founding, B/E Aerospace has grown to over $2.5 billion in revenue, making it the world’s leading manufacturer of aircraft interior products and the world’s leading distributor of aerospace fasteners and consumables for the commercial, business jet, and military markets.
The company’s two Winston-Salem facilities manufacture aircraft seating for the business class sections and main cabins of many major airlines, and are key contributors to B/E Aerospace’s status as the top manufacturer of aircraft passenger cabin interior products. In addition to their reputation as the leading producer of aircraft seating, B/E Aerospace has designers and engineers able to create and manufacture products customized to their customers’ specific needs.
The larger B/E Aerospace company makes much more than aircraft seating. They also manufacture a wide array of aircraft cabin equipment, including galley equipment — coffee and espresso makers, steam ovens, convection ovens, refrigerators, freezers, wine chillers, etc. — cabin lighting, passenger and crew oxygen systems, heat exchangers, power supplies, and other items.
Denny Boice, Manager of Operational Excellence at B/E Aerospace’s West Point Facility, told MMIR Network coordinator Gene Fornaro that he appreciated the “opportunities for business collaboration and best practices” in the network events. He also said,
