RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA — Bill Iacovelli, an improvement specialist with North Carolina State Industry Expansion Solutions (IES) and one of the state’s leading Lean and Six Sigma experts, will co-present a session at the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) Southeast Regional Workshop on September 12, 2017, in Concord, North Carolina at S&D Coffee and Tea.

The session, titled, “Standard Work for Lean Leaders”, is designed for managers, supervisors, technical resources and continuous improvement leaders who are interested in learning about the practical implementation of going to gemba (“the place where things happen”).

“It is estimated that 80-90 percent of successful lean implementation is due to culture, said Iacovelli. “This workshop is about how to become more effective at developing the leadership behaviors needed to complement the tools of the lean journey in business.”

The full day workshop will emphasize “teaching others to see” (e.g., identifying and removing waste, developing basic problem-solving capabilities in associates and using visual management skills), a key role of leaders in a lean/continuous improvement environment.

Prior to joining IES, Iacovelli worked for Eastman Kodak in technical and supervisory roles in manufacturing and research and development. He holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering and operations research from Virginia Tech and an MBA from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Iacovelli is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and serves on the AME Southeastern Region board as the VP Communications.
