Handfield is the Bank of America University Distinguished Professor of Supply Chain Management at North Carolina State University and director of the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative. He also serves as an adjunct professor with the Supply Chain Management Research Group at the Manchester Business School.

Manufacturing Day Event

Come celebrate National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) with us! NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions (IES) and Cross Company will host an in-person networking event celebrating Manufacturing Day with an informational presentation and a tour on October 7, 2022, from 10 a.m. to noon with registration and networking beginning at 9:30 a.m. The event will be held at Cross Company located at 300 S. Firestone Street, Gastonia NC 28052 in Loray Mill

Lynn Crump, president of Cross Company’s automation group, will discuss how industrial automation can not only help you solve your labor shortage but can improve quality and reduce risk in your process. NC State Student Excels in Manufacturing Internship with Help From Rural Works Program 

Highlighting available career opportunities in rural areas is an essential step in appealing to young talent — internships are one of the most effective ways to do that. That’s why the North Carolina State University Industry Expansion Solutions (IES) is helping to facilitate Rural Works! Engineering internship program. 

Rural Works! provides undergraduate and graduate internships with private, public, and nonprofit employers in rural counties. Spearheaded by IES regional manager Anna Mangum, IES has been able to match 55 engineering interns with 37 companies from all across the state for the summer of 2022. One of those companies includes Schindler Escalator Manufacturing Complex. Read the full success story »

New Episode of Clocking In—Voices of NC Manufacturing

In the newest episode of Clocking In, North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NCMEP) Network director Phil Mintz talks with Dyer Bennett, the senior vice president at Sirchie Corporation Bennett is responsible for leading all aspects of the business operation, including purchasing, manufacturing, engineering, inventory management, and order fulfillment/shipping. Bennet heads Sirchie teams to meet the organization’s goals of delivering world-class criminal investigation and security products with excellent customer service.
