Trivia Question

Generally speaking, which of the following scenarios best meets OSHA’s expectations related to Temporary Workers and their safety training?

  1. Temporary or contract workers should be provided a general safety orientation by their Staffing Agency so they are ready to start work when they arrive for their assignment.
  2. Temporary or contract workers should be provided a general safety orientation by the Staffing Agency that includes the name of the Host/Job Site contact person who can answer specific, safety-related questions related to their job assignment
  3. Temporary or contract workers should be provided a general safety orientation by the Staffing Agency followed by job/task-specific safety training provided by the Host/Job Site employer.
  4. Temporary or contract workers should be provided safety training on an “as needed” basis by either the Staffing Agency or the Host/Job Site Employer.
Answer

Answer: C. According to OSHA, in most cases the Host/Job Site employer is responsible for providing site- and task-specific safety and health training, and the Staffing Agency is responsible for providing general safety and health awareness training. Site- and task-specific safety and health training should be provided for all temporary workers before starting new assignments or new jobs/tasks on existing assignments.
