Dr. Louis A. Martin-Vega, dean of the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University, has appointed Phil Mintz as executive director of Industry Expansion Solutions (IES). Mintz initially joined IES as an extension specialist in 1997; for the past year, he has served as the organization’s interim executive director.

Do you know an excellent manufacturer? Nominations are due August 2

NCMEP is accepting nominations for its Leadership in Manufacturing Awards. Manufacturers may be nominated in any of five categories: Developing Markets, Continuous Improvement, Innovation Advanced Talent Management or Sustainable Manufacturing. Organizations that are based in NC and have fewer than 500 employees are eligible for consideration. Awards will be announced at mfgCON 2017 in Winston Salem. Nomination forms must be completed by August 2.

As part of a grant awarded to the State of North Carolina by the Defense Industry Adjustment (DIA) Program of the Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA), Industry Expansion Solutions (IES) and the North Carolina Department of Military and Veteran Affairs (NCDMVA) are conducting a pilot project designed to help North Carolina’s defense contractors diversify into alternative markets.
