I think it was very meaningful for all of us in the room to hear our governor recognize the manufacturing sector’s contribution to North Carolina’s economy.

Governor Roy Cooper presented the 2017 Manufacturing Leadership Awards to six North Carolina manufacturers at a September 20 ceremony at mfgCON 2017. The state awards program recognizes manufacturers that demonstrate outstanding performance in the areas of Innovation, Sustainable Manufacturing, Advanced Talent Development, Developing Markets and Continuous Improvement.

Manufacturing Day Rocks North Carolina

Manufacturing Day sees all kinds of institutions across the country getting down to the business of educating the public about what modern manufacturing really looks like! Manufacturing Day happens yearly on the first Friday in October—this year Manufacturing Day occurred on Oct 6, 2017. We’d like to thank the more than 77 organizations who held events around the state.

 

IES Documents Microban-PCE Partnership

When one of Microban’s customers manufactures a product, that customer incorporates Microban’s proprietary polymer pellets in with their own. The two products combine in a melted stream of liquid plastic, and the finished product resists microbial buildup. For years, Microban has engaged the Polymers Center of Excellence, an NCMEP Partner, to help with materials testing and production.

Smart manufacturing uses big data to improve processes—data that many companies are already collecting. Are you ready to start making your data work for you? NCMEP, through the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII), can give you a free readiness assessment, to find out. CESMII is a regional program that works through public-private investment to improve the precision, performance and efficiency of US manufacturing.
 

 

NCMEP Wins Two New Grants to Support Manufacturing Technology and Innovation

NCMEP won a $1M, three-year grant from the U.S Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology in support of its newly formed MEP Digital Supply Chain Network. In addition, NCMEP announced it is a sub-recipient of a $231K, two-year grant from the National Institute for Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals.
